Former Colac coach and multiple premiership-winning Geelong Amateur mentor Rowan McSparron has accepted an assistant’s role with VFL club Werribee.

The highly-regarded McSparron will link up with former Bell Park teammate Dan Lowther at Chirnside Park, after the former Geelong player and Cats AFLW coach was appointed to the top job at the Tigers last month.

A premiership player with Ammos and the Dragons, the Apollo Bay product led the Pegs for four years from 2015-18, including playing in their flags in 2015 and 2016.

McSparron joined Colac in 2019, guiding the Tigers to a heartbreaking grand final loss to St Mary’s alongside Kane Leersen in his first season.

He remained in the role until the end of 2024, having shared the position with Darcy Lang for two seasons, before joining K rock Football as an expert on its GFNL coverage.
