GEELONG Falcons’ hopes of securing a NAB League Girls finals berth have been boosted by the return of several key players for Saturday’s clash with Bendigo Pioneers at Deakin University.
Captain Charlotte Simpson will play her first game since Round 4 following minor surgery on a cheekbone fracture, while Keeley Hardingham, Lizzie Dowling, Mia van Dyke and Analea McKee will return from Vic Country duties.
A win for the Falcons guarantees a meeting with the unbeaten Dandenong Stingrays in the Country Conference semi-final.
However, a loss would open the door for the Murray Bushrangers and Tasmania to snatch the Falcons’ spot if they were to win their final round matches.
“Hopefully, we can put in a good performance against Bendigo and consolidate our spot with a win rather than relying on other results,” coach Paul Corrigan said.
“You want to take winning form into the finals as well.”
Meanwhile, the Geelong Falcons Boys will have an extended practice match against the Pioneers ahead of its Round 1 clash with Gold Coast on Sunday, April 3.
