FOR the second week-in-a-row, the Geelong Falcons have beaten the NAB League Boys ladder-leader following a win over the Bendigo Pioneers at Mars Stadium

After handing the Greater Western Victoria Rebels their first loss last Sunday at the same venue, the Falcons have outlasted the Pioneers for a 9.10 (64) to 7.12 (54) win.

“It was a high-quality game with a lot of pressure,” coach Paul Corrigan told Bay 93.9’s The Sideline View.

“It ebbed and flowed all day. It went a bit Bendigo’s way, and then we got on top again.

“I said to the boys after the game, especially in the last quarter, when Bendigo came at us in the last quarter, we held strong and won (at) the contest again, and we started to get the ball forward.

“We were able to get ourselves back in front, and I think that’s been the biggest learning for the group from earlier in the year.”

Making his Falcons’ debut after injury impacted his start to the season, Queenscliff’s Max Annandale kicked two goals, as did Euriah Hollard.

Talented midfielder Cooper Whyte continued the form that earned him a senior debut for Grovedale in April, while AFL Academy ruck Toby Conway made an impact on his return.

Whyte’s Tiger teammate Mitch Knevitt and Noah Gribble also produced performances that would have caught the eye of the many AFL recruiters in the stands.

The Falcons are now preparing for a likely trip to Morwell for a clash with the Gippsland Falcons next weekend.
