NINE Geelong Falcons will get a chance to push their case for a spot in the final Vic Country squad for this year’s under-18 National Championship.
The group has been named across two trial games against Vic Metro at Werribee on Sunday.
Falcons captain Jhye Clark (Leopold/St Ignatius College) and ruck Oli Northam (St Joseph’s/Western Heights College) won’t play, with both guaranteed their spots in the final team.
Hoping to join them are Ted Clohesy, Tadgh Evans, Cooper Hayes, Jai McGough, Oscar Murdoch, Will Parkhouse, Hamish Pierson, Joe Pike and Geelong father-son prospect Osca Riccardi.
Falcons coach Paul Corrigan will take charge of Country during its nationals campaign.
Meanwhile, five Falcons have been named to the final Vic Country team for the under-16 National Championships.
St Joseph’s duo Zac McInnes (Western Heights College) and Angus Morrison (St Joseph’s College), St Mary’s Lachie Jacques (St Joseph’s College), Colac’s Brady Hall (Trinity College) and Geelong Amateur’s Xavier Ivisic (Geelong Grammar.
Coached by former Geelong speedster David Wojcinski, Country opens its campaign against Vic Metro at Princes Park on Saturday.
Falcons assistant Michael Bright is among Wojcinski’s coaching staff.
