A QUARTET of Geelong Falcons have earned selection in the Vic Country team for this year’s under-18 National Championships.
Captain Jyhe Clark, ruck Oli Northam, midfielder Ted Clohesy and defender Oscar Murdoch are part of the 28-man squad, which starts its campaign against South Australia in Adelaide on June 26.
Clark and Northam sat out last Sunday’s Country-Metro trial games, with Clohesy and Murdoch among nine Falcons who pushed their claims at Werribee.
Falcons coach Paul Corrigan will again take charge of Country for the championships, playing three games in June/July ahead of the highly-anticipated showdown with Vic Metro in September.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Falcons start the second half of their NAB League season at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium.
Sitting fourth on the ladder with five wins, a draw and a loss from their opening seven matches, the Falcons face the ninth-placed Calder Cannons.
