COLLINGWOOD has landed Richmond forward Sabrina Frederick on the opening day of the AFLW Sign and Trade period.

Frederick has joined the Magpies as part of a trade that sees Maddie Shevlin join the Tigers.

For Frederick, it’s her third AFLW stop after spending three years with the Brisbane Lions between 2017-19, earning All-Australian selection on two occasions.

“I would like to thank the Richmond Football Club for the last two years,” Frederick said.

“I was really fortunate to be given the opportunity to move to Melbourne and play the game I love for a club so passionate and supportive of women’s football.

“I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life and being a part of something very special at Collingwood.

“I’m excited to grow and challenge myself professionally. I can’t wait to get started in the black and white.”

Shevlin spent three years with Collingwood following a season with Melbourne in 2018.

The 23-year-old played 13 games for the Magpies, including this year’s two qualifying and preliminary finals.

“We wish ‘Shev’ all the best with her future at Richmond and thank her for her contribution to the club during her time at the Holden Centre,” Collingwood’s head of women’s sport Jane Woodlands-Thompson said.

“We look forward to watching her continue to develop as an elite footballer.”
