GROVEDALE sensation Tom Gillett will test himself at the next level after being selected in the Geelong Falcons team for Sunday’s NAB League clash with the GWV Rebels at Mars Stadium.

Gillett has taken the GFL by storm with 28 goals in the opening six rounds before the Victorian COVID shutdown put the competition on hold.

His tally includes seven-goal hauls against North Shore and Leopold, and six against St Joseph’s, with the Tigers storming to a 5-1 win-loss record.

The 17-year-old commenced training with the Falcons last week and has been named at full forward.

The winless Falcons were due to host the Northern Knights at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.

But with Victoria’s COVID lockdown continuing in metro Melbourne, the AFL undertook a rejig of the fixture to ensure the NAB League’s regional-based teams could resume playing.

However, the Falcons have been unable to select any of their 19-year-old players, with the likes of captain Genarro Bove, Noah Gadsby, Oscar Barrow and Kyle Skene unable to take on the Rebels.
