GEELONG Falcons coach Luke Daffy has been left to rue a lapse late in the second quarter of the 21-point loss to fellow struggler Murray Bushrangers at Werribee’s Avalon Airport Oval.
The Falcons led by more than two goals before conceding three late majors, which gave the Bushrangers a two-point lead at the main break on their way to a 14.8 (92) to 10.11 (71) victory.
“I’m really disappointed with the result today,” Daffy said.
“It’s probably the first time this year we went away from the style of footy that we wanted to play and didn’t follow directions and instructions as well as we would have liked.
“And in the third term, too, the last five minutes, we allowed a couple of goals as well.
“Just a little bit of lack of focus and concentration, and some poor decision at a time of the game when it was pretty important to just control it.”

Among the positives for the Falcons was the performance of Charlie Brauer in just his third game.
“Charlie was fantastic, in terms of the pressure put on,” Daffy said.
“Again, he got a few looks at goal; unfortunately he missed a couple of opportunities that he’d like to take.
“But he’s developing really well. We’re really excited about what he’s done over the last month considering he’s had limited preparation with pre-season and a few little niggles along the way.
Co-captain Jesse Clark again impressed in defence, while Ollie Henry followed up his four goals last week with another three majors.
The Falcons will return to Avalon Airport Oval next Saturday for a clash with the Western Jets.
