GEELONG Falcons star Analea McKee has declared her teammates will take a “nothing to lose” approach into Saturday’s NAB League Girls semi-final.
The Falcons face the Dandenong Stingrays at Frankston, with the winner advancing to the following week’s grand final.
The Stingrays went through the home-and-away season unbeaten, including handing the Falcons a 48-point hiding in Round 1.
However, McKee believes too much shouldn’t be read into that result.
“I was in the backline that week, we didn’t have Mia (van Dyke),” she said.
“Then I moved down forward, and it’s a completely different dynamic.
“We’ve got new girls that bring a lot of feistiness and run the ball, so it’s really exciting.
“I think it will be a good match-up this week.”
McKee said keeping as much of the ball away from the Stingrays will be a key to the Falcons causing an upset.
“If they get out the back, and we’re playing behind, they’ll run it and they’ll use the footy really, really well,” she said.
“We’ve got to be on our players this week.”
