GEELONG Falcons have been boosted by the addition of vice-captain Mia van Dyke for Saturday’s NAB League Girls match-up with Murray Bushrangers.
Health and safety protocols kept the Vic Country squad member out of the Round 1 loss to Dandenong Stingrays.
Van Dyke’s return is timely, with Bushrangers piling on 13 goals in 37-point win over the Bendigo Pioneers to open the season.
“It’ll be great to have her back with her experience … it will help strengthen our side,” coach Paul Corrigan said.
Corrigan says the review of last week’s 49-point loss to the Stingrays was focused on the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives.
“When you have a loss, you can go too deep with it,” he said
“But, I just said to the girls, it’s all about a learning curve; there’s going to be some wins, there’s going to be some losses on the way.
“It’s more about our gradual improvement as individuals and as a team also.
“We took snippets of what we did well in the game, and we also spoke about where we can improve and what we can keep doing better as the games roll on throughout the season.”
