Win crucial for Falcons

A QUIRK in the NAB League Girls fixture has the Geelong Falcons renewing acquaintances with the GWV Rebels for the second time in three weeks.

Once again, the Falcons will head up the Midland Highway, but Sunday’s venue will be different as the two teams do battle at City Oval this time around.

However, Falcons coach Paul Corrigan will be hoping for a similar result to last time as they look to stay in second-place among the country teams with only four rounds until finals.

When they met in Round 5, the Falcons came out on top by 40 points.

“It’s Dandenong out in front leading the country charge, and then it comes down to ourselves and Tassie that are vying for that second position in the country section,” Corrigan said.

“The girls know that, and I think that’s a good challenge.

“We’ve probably exceeded what I thought we’d do this year, with the demographic of our list.

“I’ve been really impressed with the way the girls have gone.”

The Falcons will unveil two more debutants, with Chantal Mason (Newtown & Chilwell) and Chloe Bryant (St Joseph’s) to make their NAB League debuts.

Vice-captain Ash van Loon returns after a month on the sidelines with a knee injury, while Georgia Tyrrell has been recalled.
