JACK Sarcevic’s impressive form at GFL level has been too hard for the Geelong Falcons to ignore, with the Bell Park young gun to make his debut in Sunday’s NAB League clash with Eastern Ranges at Box Hill City Oval.

Sarcevic, whose dad Ray played two games for the Cats in the mid-1980s, represented Queensland, and is a legend at the Dragons, has played five games since making his senior debut in mid-April.

“We had some fantastic reports about Jack’s footy at Bell Park,” Falcons coach Luke Daffy said.

“He hadn’t been in a program like ours before; he seems to be a bit of a late developer.

“He’s only light, but he’s quite skilful, and he’s come in over the last month, and he’ll get his opportunity this week, which is really exciting for him.”

“He probably didn’t see it (debut) coming when we told him tonight (Thursday), but it’s a nice story.”

Sarcevic’s inclusion is among least eight changes the Falcons will make to the side that lost to the Western Jets before the week off.

Seven of those are forced changes, with Jesse Clark named in the Vic Country team to play Vic Metro in the National Under-18 Championships, Harry Stubbings, Charlie Sprague and Sam Christensen selected in the AFL Victoria Young Guns game to be played on Sunday, and Will Batson (shoulder), Lachie Peck (concussion) and Luke Lloyd (illness) also missing.

Eastern, which is coached by former Essendon star Darren Bewick, sits fourth on the NAB League ladder.

“They look like a really good side,” Daffy said. “They move the footy really quickly, and they’ve got some really talented players.

“I think they had five players selected in the (Vic) Metro squad. I’m not sure how many of them will play on the weekend, but it’s going to be a good challenge for us.

“It’s nice to play the good sides and have a look where we’re at against those better sides.”
