PRIZED recruit Jesse Hogan made a quiet debut for Fremantle as Collingwood overcame a sluggish start to post a 27-point win in Monday’s pre-season clash at Arena Joondalup.

Hogan went goalless from just six disposals in his three quarters of action, but importantly he moved freely in a strong sign he is over the foot injury that ended his season last year.

The 24-year-old former Demon roamed all the way to defence at one point in the opening term to take an intercept mark.

Fremantle led 33-7 at quarter-time after making the most of a strong breeze, but Collingwood booted seven straight goals either side of halftime to open up a 22-point buffer.

However, there were more twists in the tail, with the Dockers fighting back to open up a six-point lead early in the final term before Collingwood settled to secure the 17.9 (111) to 12.12 (84) win in front of 5245 fans.

Star Magpies duo Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom racked up 34 disposals apiece in a match that started in 37-degree heat, while Travis Varcoe booted three goals

Dayne Beams tallied 25 disposals and a goal in his first match back in Collingwood colours, while Jamie Elliott, who missed all of last season with hamstring and ankle issues, was lively.

Fremantle swingman Brennan Cox booted three goals in a promising display.

Defender Griffin Logue limped off late.

Former GWS big man Rory Lobb made a promising debut for Fremantle, mixing ruck and forward-line duties.

Collingwood entered the match missing a host of best-22 players, including Jordan De Goey, Daniel Wells, Mason Cox, Tyson Goldsack, Jeremy Howe, Taylor Adams, Adam Treloar, and Will Hoskin-Elliott.

The Dockers were without Nat Fyfe, Aaron Sandilands, Sean Darcy, Stephen Hill, Reece Conca, and Connor Blakely.
