Martin set to miss a fortnight

DUSTIN Martin will miss Richmond’s matches against Port Adelaide and Sydney after being hit with a two-match AFL suspension for a high elbow.

Martin struck GWS defender Adam Kennedy in an off-the-ball incident in Saturday’s loss, and the star midfielder could yet receive another penalty for making an unsporting gesture in the same match.

The suspension also means he cannot win the Brownlow Medal, an accolade he won in the Tigers’ 2017 premiership year.

The Tigers will now decide whether they take the charge to the tribunal.

Martin was also fined $1500 for striking his tagger Matt de Boer, who restricted the Richmond ace to just 15 possessions.

He is the only player facing suspension after round-three games.

Port Adelaide youngster Zac Butters and teammate Scott Lycett were fined $2000 apiece for rough conduct.

Fremantle key forward Jesse Hogan was also fined $2000 for rough conduct, while Carlton veteran Kade Simpson was cleared for the heavy collision that left Sydney player Will Hayward with a broken jaw.
