PORT Adelaide has denied speculation that co-captain Ollie Wines explored a trade away from the club.

Wines is contracted at Alberton until the end of 2022 but has been linked with a move to Victoria.

“Port Adelaide is aware of recent media speculation relating to Ollie Wines’ future at the club,” the Power said in a statement.

“As a principle, the club is generally reluctant to respond to rumours involving its players throughout the AFL trade period.

“However, in this instance, given Ollie is the current co-captain of the club, Port Adelaide believes it is important to confirm that at no stage has Ollie requested a trade from our club.

“Equally, at no stage has Port Adelaide contemplated trading Ollie to any other club and he remains a required player.”

Wines has played 141 games for the Power since he was drafted No.7 in the 2012 AFL draft but injuries – including a shoulder issue suffered while waterskiing in the pre-season – limited him to just 12 appearances this season.

The 25-year-old was appointed co-captain alongside Tom Jonas before the 2019 campaign
