Geelong used its first pick in the 2024 AFLW Draft to select Alexis Gregor, strengthening its tall stocks.
The 181cm joined the Cats from Talent League club Bendigo Pioneers, where she had played from 14, with pick 10.
Gregor, whose home club is Moama, missed the 2023 season due to two bulging discs in her back.
However, she bounced back this year to earn Vic Country selection, averaging 14.3 disposals, 4.3 marks, 4.8 tackles, 2.5 inside 50s, and 2.1 rebound 50s, and booting seven goals from 13 matches.
After having its bid on Carlton father-daughter prospect Sophie McKay at pick 17 matched by the Blues, Geelong used pick 18 to snap up Oakleigh Chargers defender Sienna Tallariti.
Tallariti arrives at GMHBA Stadium after winning the past two Talent League grand final best-on-ground medals.
The 169cm defender had 24 disposals, 14 rebound 50s and took six marks in this year’s decider.
She was co-captain of Vic Metro this year and was selected in the All-Australian team.
With its third selection, Geelong has given an opportunity to VFLW ruck Piper Dunlop.
A basketball product previously on the roster of WNBL club Bendigo Spirit, she played three games with Bendigo-based club Sandhurst before earning a VFLW debut with the Cats in Round 7.
The 186cm Dunlop played seven of the last eight VFLW games, averaging 26.7 hitouts, 9.6 disposals and 3.8 tackles to finish ninth in the Cats’ best-and-fairest.
Geelong passed its final pick, leaving a list spot open.
