GEELONG will open an AFLW round for the third consecutive week following the release of the Round 5 fixture.
The winless Cats will face Richmond, chasing its first-ever win, at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.
Geelong’s clash with the Tigers is the first match of AFLW’s Indigenous Round, with the Cats to unveil their jumper design tomorrow.
It is likely to result in an earlier start to Geelong’s AFL practice match against Collingwood, which was due to bounce at 4pm on Friday.
Round 5 will also see Victorian teams travel interstate for the first time since Round 1, with St Kilda heading to Adelaide on Sunday to play the Crows and North Melbourne hosting Carlton at University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.
“We will continue to remain adaptable as we listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone in the game,” the AFL’s Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said.
“While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority, and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner led by respective governments, public health officials and medical experts.”
Tickets for all games will go on sale at 12:00pm Wednesday for home team members and everyone else at 1:00pm.
