Cats give up first pick for Marshall

It might have taken 12 months, but Rowan Marshall is now a Geelong player after St Kilda agreed to a deal for the contracted ruckman.

The Cats have given up their first pick in this year’s National Draft (currently 14), and received a third-round selection in 2028.

Marshall, who has played 177 AFL matches since joining the Saints via the 2017 Rookie Draft, first requested a move to Geelong last year.

However, the Cats and St Kilda couldn’t strike a deal.

The 31-year-old is Geelong’s third off-season addition after the Cats traded for Essendon defender Jordan Ridley on Wednesday and signed GWS Giants captain Toby Greene as an unrestricted free agent last week.
