Geelong hopes to know later this week the extent of a foot problem that has sidelined big man Toby Conway.
As revealed on K rock Football on Saturday, Conway was withdrawn from Sunday’s VFL win over Sandringham before being spotted in a moon boot at that match.
Conway has made five AFL appearances in 2024 after debuting in the final round of last year.
He played three consecutive games between rounds 11-13 but missed the trip to Sydney with what the club labelled a hip issue.
“Unfortunately, Toby has got a foot issue that we are still looking at and investigating,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.
“We will know more later this week and will provide an update then for what that means this week and beyond.”
Veteran midfielder Cam Guthrie is now listed as TBC by Geelong in his recovery from an Achilles issue.
Last week, Guthrie’s expected return was given as 1-2 weeks.
Cam is getting assessed again today and looking forward to hopefully return soon,” Johnson said.
Geelong says Tom Hawkins has made a positive start to rehabilitation from a footy injury suffered against Carlton.
“Tom is going really well; he’s been at the club and has commenced his rehab,” Johnson said.
“We are expecting his return in about six weeks’ time, but things have progressed really well early on.”
Livewire forward Ollie Henry will be available after missing last week’s win over Essendon as the Cats took a conservative approach with an undisclosed injury.
