Cats keep open mind on Mitch

GEELONG hasn’t ruled out Mitch Duncan making a timely return from injury in Friday night’s blockbuster clash with the Brisbane Lions.

The experienced midfielder has battled a calf issue for most of the pre-season, with the Cats saying the 29-year-old is building his conditioning.

Wingman Sam Menegola is also a chance to take on the Lions after what Geelong has labelled a “positive result” despite an X-ray confirming an AC joint injury suffered late in the loss to Adelaide.

However, uncapped midfielder Cooper Stephens is set for “several weeks” on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in the Cats’ VFL practice match loss to Coburg on Saturday.

He is due to undergo an MRI early this week.
