GEELONG has hinted it may change up its ruck structure for Friday night’s AFL clash with Richmond with the announcement of the club’s VFL squad.
The Cats play Northern Bullants at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night, with Rhys Stanley named in a forward pocket in the 30-man squad.
Darcy Fort, who is yet to play an AFL game in 2021 after a pre-season knee issue, has been named in the ruck.
“We’re starting to get to the point where we have a group of ruckmen available that we can actually choose from,” AFL coach Chris Scott said.
“As opposed to three guys we like, that we’re sure could do the job but have been short on match practice, or coming back from injury or that sort of thing.
“We’re closer to being on level pegging when it comes to availability.”
Also included from the AFL team that lost to Sydney last Saturday are Jordan Clark, Zach Guthrie and Jordan Clark.
There are a number of potential VFL debutants in the squad, including Zach Walter (Newtown & Chilwell), Ben Worme (Bell Park) and Marcus Herbert (South Warrnambool/GWV Rebels)
The unbeaten Cats clash with the winless Bullants will be broadcast live on Fox Footy from 7:00pm
