GEELONG’S hopes of securing the first bit of silverware for the club’s women’s program could be determined by its performances in the final two rounds of the VFLW season.
The Cats sits second on the ladder with a 9-3 win-loss record, only percentage clear of third-placed Port Melbourne.
Geelong will likely need to beat both Hawthorn on Saturday and the Magpies in the final round, with the unbeaten Collingwood guaranteed top spot to ensure the double-chance in the top-six format.
If the Cats lose to either the Hawks or Collingwood, and the Richmond-aligned Borough beats the lower-ranked North Melbourne and Hawthorn, Andrew Bruce’s charges will find themselves starting their finals campaign from an elimination final.
AFLW-listed duo Madisen Maguire and Maddy Keryk, delisted pair Maddi Boyd and Mia Skinner, GWV Rebels NAB League star Chloe Leonard, and Sarah Elsworthy have been included for Geelong.
