PATRICK Dangerfield is set to play his AFL match in over a month in Saturday’s crucial clash with Richmond at the MCG.

After being cleared to play against West Coast last week following an ongoing calf issue, the Cats chose to continue the 32-year-old’s conditioning program instead.

“Patrick is continuing his reconditioning program,” Geelong’s head of medical and conditioning services Harry Taylor said.

“He has completed a number of high-intensity sessions and will look to be available for this weekend.”

Carji Greeves medal runner-up Jack Henry, big man Esava Ratugolea, speedster Max Holmes and the uncapped Nick Stevens all made successful returns from layoffs via the VFL.

Max, Jack, Esava and Nick all played VFL on the weekend and have pulled up well after playing managed minutes versus Werribee,” Taylor said.

Gary Rohan will be available after missing the trip to Perth due to health and safety protocols, while fellow veteran Shaun Higgins went across the Nullarbor but didn’t play.

After undergoing surgery on a broken hand, Brandan Parfitt is back on track.

“Brandan is progressing through his reconditioning program, with an increased running volume focus, whilst his hand remains in a splint for the short term,” Taylor said.
