LIZZY Dowling has become the latest Geelong Falcon to get an opportunity at VFLW Women’s level after being named in the Geelong team for Saturday’s clash with North Melbourne at Arden Street.
The talented 18-year-old had an impressive NAB League Girls season, earning selection on the bench in the Team of the Year after kicking 14 goals and averaging 16 disposals for the Falcons.
Dowling is one of four inclusions for Geelong, with the Cats forced into three changes with midfield duo Paige Sheppard and Tamara Smith and defender Chloe Leonard named in a representative team with other AFLW draft hopefuls from Tasmania and Northern Territory.
AFLW leadership group member Georgie Rankin, forward Madisen Maguire and VFLW listed Annie Haigh have also been named for the clash with the Roos.
If Geelong wins and Collingwood loses, it would have the Cats 12 points and percentage clear of North and the Magpies inside the top six.
