Geelong has confirmed the re-signing of Rhys Stanley and Mitch Knevitt.
Cats football boss Andrew Mackie confirmed on K rock Football ahead of the preliminary final win over Hawthorn on September 19 that the veteran ruck and emerging midfielder had signed one-year contract extensions.
Stanley, who turns 35 on December 1, has played 171 matches in the hoops since arriving at Geelong ahead of the 2015 season after 58 appearances with St Kilda.
He played in the 2022 premiership win and was part of grand final losses this year and in 2020.
22-year-old Knevitt, a local product from Grovedale, has played 21 games since being drafted in 2021, including seven this year.
“Rhys has been a highly valued member of our football program for a decade now and, heading into 2026, will continue to be a great teammate and important member of our squad,” Mackie said in a statement.
“Mitch is an exciting young player who showed this year what he can produce when given the opportunity, and we are keen to see him continue to learn and develop in our program.”
Six Cats remain uncontracted for 2026: veteran duo Cam Guthrie and Jed Bews, 2025 debutants Oli Wiltshire and George Stevens, and rookie pair Ted Clohesy and Joe Pike.
