Geelong has received a boost a week out from the opening of the VFL season, signing former Carlton AFL player Will White.
White, who turns 22 next Wednesday, joins the Cats following 14 games with the Blues after getting his AFL opportunity during last year’s pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP).
He was delisted by Carlton at the end of last year but remained training with the Blues in an attempt to win his spot back.
However, White missed out at IKON Park and tried his hand at the Western Bulldogs, but was overlooked there.
The South Warrnambool product will play in the Cats’ final practice match against Collingwood at Deakin University tomorrow.
Geelong has named a 30-man squad for the meeting with the Magpies, of which 13 are AFL-listed.
That includes veteran premiership pair Rhys Stanley and Jake Kolodjashnih, and emergencies for the AFL clash with Fremantle, Jack Bowes, Ollie Henry, and Mitch Knevitt.
At least one of that trio will be carried over for the match-up with the Dockers.
Former VFL Cat Charlie McCartin has been named for the Magpies.
