An Achilles issue will keep Cam Guthrie sidelined, but captain Patrick Dangerfield will return from injury for Friday night’s crucial clash with Carlton at the MCG.

Guthrie hasn’t played since being subbed out of the loss to Gold Coast in Round 10.

“Cameron is progressing well in his recovery,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.

“Over the next two weeks, he will begin to increase his footy loads and conditioning as he nears his return,” Johnson said.

Dangerfield hasn’t played since the Cats last met with the Blues in Round 7 when he suffered his second hamstring injury for the season.

Ollie Henry will also return after missing the loss to Sydney with what the club labelled hamstring awareness.

Veteran Zach Tuohy (knee) and emerging ruck Toby Conway (hip) are available after being late withdrawals from the squad to play the Swans.

Guthrie and Barwon Heads draftee Oli Wiltshire (pelvis, 2-4 weeks) are the only two players on Geelong’s injury list.
