Johnson departs Cats

After over six years at GMHBA Stadium, including four years overseeing the club’s AFLW program, Geelong’s assistant football boss Brett Johnson is leaving.

The former Hawthorn and Carlton player joined the Cats in 2018 from the AFL Players’ Association as Performance and Development Manager.

He became Head of AFLW, Football Pathways and Player Development in 2020 before being promoted to Assistant General Manager – Football in late 2023 while maintaining his AFLW role.

“Brett has been instrumental in leading our AFLW program over the last four years,” Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said.

“We thank Brett for his commitment, leadership, and dedication to develop, grow and elevate our AFLW program.”
