Rookie pair Xavier Ivisic and Patrick Retschko have been delisted by Geelong as it starts shaping its list ahead of the AFL draft and trade periods.
Ivisic, who played junior football at Geelong Amateur and Bell Park before being drafted from the Geelong Falcons, featured in 13 VFL games after overcoming a pre-season syndesmosis injury.
After arriving at GMHBA Stadium from Talent League club Oakleigh Chargers, Retschko played in all 18 of the Cats’ VFL matches.
“It is always a difficult time of year, farewelling players, and both Xavier and Pat were great teammates and contributors to our program,” Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“We thank them for their hard work and dedication, and wish them every success in the next chapter of their careers.”
Ivisic and Retschko are the third confirmed departure from Geelong, joining retired great Mitch Duncan.
It leaves premiership pair Cam Guthrie and Jed Bews, 2025 debutants George Stevens and Oli Wiltshire, and rookies Ted Clohesy and Joe Pike without deals for next year.
Veteran ruck Rhys Stanley and emerging midfielder Mitch Knevitt have re-signed one-year deals, which Mackie confirmed on K rock Football before the preliminary final win over Hawthorn on September 19.
