Geelong small forward Gryan Miers is listed as TBC on the club’s injury list but is tracking well for a return from a concussion in Saturday night’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
Miers was sorely missed in the Cats’ 18-point loss to Carlton on Sunday after being flattened by Conor Nash in the Easer Monday victory over Hawthorn.
He was placed in the 12-day concussion protocol, which ends this Friday.
He could be joined by fellow Grovedale product Mitch Knevitt, who was a late withdrawal from the squad to take on the Blues after his plantar fascia issue flared again.
“As Chris (Scott) mentioned on Saturday, Mitch has been managing a plantar fascia injury in his right foot,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“We are continuing to take a cautious approach and will monitor his symptoms throughout the week before making a call on his availability for Saturday night.”
Meanwhile, veteran defender Jed Bews will make his return from a finger tendon injury in the VFL clash with the GWS Giants on May 11.
“With the VFL having a bye this weekend, Jed will have to wait a week before returning,” Mackie said.
“However, it will be great to see him back out there.”
Fellow backman Jack Henry is still listed as 1-3 weeks away as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
