Geelong midfielder Brandan Parfitt found out less than two hours before the first bounce he would be taking his place in the team for Friday night’s win over Adelaide.

The 25-year-old was a late inclusion for Tom Atkins, who the Cats decided not to risk with an adductor issue.

He finished with 20 disposals, of which 11 were contested, and laid a team-high ten tackles in a vital performance that helped keep the Cats unbeaten after two rounds.

Parfitt told K rock Football he was making dinner at home in Geelong on Thursday night when he got the call to get on a plane to Adelaide.

“It was good to get out there and play in the ones again,” he said.

“Hopefully, I can just keep building on that and keep moving forward.”
