Geelong has confirmed the return of James Rahilly to the club as an assistant coach.

The 2023 AFL Coaches’ Association Assistant Coach of the Year has spent the past three seasons with Adelaide.

A life member of the Cats, Rahilly played 90 games between 1998 and 2005 and served the club in various roles between 2010 and 2021.

“We are excited to welcome James and his family back to Geelong Football Club,” football boss Andrew Mackie said.

“Spending the last three years at the Crows has seen James continue to develop his coaching skills to become one of the most highly regarded and respected coaches in the competition.

“It is always important to bring good people with strong values into an organisation, and James epitomises that, so we are thrilled James will continue his coaching career back at Geelong, and we look forward to him working with Chris, our current coaches and our playing group.”

Rahilly’s arrival follows the departure last month of Shaun Grigg, who has linked up with Damien Hardwick at Gold Coast.
