Rocky in Goal of the Year contention

ROCKY Cranston’s stunning solo effort in Geelong’s opening round clash with Fremantle has seen the midfielder nominated for the AFLW Goal of the Year.

Cranston gathered the ball from an Olivia Purcell kick at left half-forward and took on chasing Docker Evie Gooch with a bounce before handballing to herself and steadying to kick the major.

She is up against St Kilda’s Caitlin Greiser for an effort Melbourne in Round 3 and Demon Kate Hore’s goal in the clash with Carlton in Round 6.

Meanwhile, Docker Ash Sharp, Giant Rebecca Privitelli and Adelaide veteran Courtney Gum are the nominees for Mark of the Year.
