MEETINGS with Carlton and North Melbourne, respectively, have been confirmed for Geelong’s VFL and VFWL teams to open the 2023 season.
The VFL team, who will be guided this year by former best-and-fairest winner and 2012 premiership player Mark Corrigan, will travel to IKON Park to open the season against the Blues on Friday, March 24.
That match will be played the night after the Cats meet Carlton in AFL Round 2 action.
After finishing as a beaten elimination finalist in 2022, Geelong will open its VFLW campaign with a home clash against North Melbourne at Deakin Uni on Saturday, March 25.
It will be the first game in charge for former player Elise Coventry.
Geelong will play three VFL practice matches – against Box Hill Hawks (February 23 – GMHBA Stadium), Werribee (March 10 – GMHBA Stadium) and Collingwood (March 18 – Olympic Park) – before taking on Carlton.
Fixtures for the remainder of the season will be released in the coming weeks, along with scheduling for rounds 2-14 of the VFL season and r-13 of VFLW.
