Geelong hasn’t closed the door on Chloe Scheer make her first appearance of the season in Friday night’s must-win final-week clash with Kuwarna (Adelaide) at GMHBA Stadium.

The star forward hasn’t sighted this season after undergoing toe surgery late in the pre-season and is listed as being 1-2 weeks away on the Cats’ official injury list.

However, coach Dan Lowther told K rock’s Tim & Jess that the 25-year-old was doing all she could to take on her former club.

“She’s done a really good job over the last, say… all season, to be fair, to get to a point where she’s giving herself the best chance (to play),” Lowther said.

“She went over to Perth on the weekend, so she was pretty close to training fully with the squad and giving herself the best look to potentially get picked.

“She’s an outside chance but still a chance, which is positive.

“We had a session today (Tuesday), and she did some work. And she’s going to join in training (on) Thursday as well.

“You never know. Fingers crossed”.

A premiership player in 2019, Scheer played 17 games and kicked 13 goals for the Crows before arriving at Geelong ahead of the first 2022 season.

At the Cats, she’s made 32 appearances and kicked a club-record 41 goals.

Meanwhile, Geelong’s equal-games record-holder Julia Crockett-Grills will miss the rest of the season and any finals the Cats appear in after scans revealed a syndesmosis injury.

She’s the fourth Cat to have her season ended prematurely, joining ruck Lily Pearce (ACL), Irish recruit Kate Kenny (foot) and draftee Chantal Mason (foot).

Darcy Moloney, Caitlin Thorne, Gabbi Featherston, and Bryde O’Rourke are unavailable this week, while Zali Friswell is listed as a test after rolling her ankle in the victory over the Eagles.
