CARLY Remmos will become Geelong’s sixth debutant in a brutal 2021 AFLW season after being named in the team for Saturday’s penultimate round match-up with GWS Giants at GMHBA Stadium.
Remmos, selected with pick No.39 in last year’s AFLW Draft, is one of three inclusions for the Cats, with fellow draftee Laura Gardiner recalled for her second match and Madi Maguire to make her first appearance at AFLW level this year.
They replace vice-captain Jordan Ivey (foot), Georgie Rankin (concussion) and Georgia Clarke from the side that lost to West Coast in Perth on Monday.
The inclusion of Remmos and Maguires leaves Nina Morrison (knee) and Mia Skinner, who is currently battling a quad injury, as the only members of the Cats’ 30-woman list not play at AFLW level in 2021.
It will be Geelong’s first meeting with the Giants in more than two years, with GWS recording a 31-point win in Canberra in the final round of the 2019 season.
