Geelong signing Bailey Smith has declared himself “fully ready to go” during his first visit to GMHBA since his trade from the Western Bulldogs.

The 23-year-old missed the 2024 season after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during pre-season training at the Dogs late last season.

Smith will start pre-season unhindered when the Cats get underway late next month.

“I’m fully fit now, so I’m fully ready to go,” Smith said in a club-produced interview.

“So, I’m very excited for when day one (of) pre-season rolls around; I’m itching for it, to be honest.

“I’ll be coming in here once a week, at least, to get to know the facilities and train in here with a few of the boys.”

Smith had been linked with a move to Geelong for over 12 months and said the Cats were an attractive proposition for several reasons.

“The talent that’s already prevalent in the list, and I suppose the future’s exciting because it’s a successful club,” he said.

“And just the way they go about footy, but, more importantly, life and the balance they have, and the people Geelong breeds have drawn me there most.

“The footy stuff is always amazing, and I suppose a lot of people’s No.1 thing.

“But, it’s more than the people that are within the four walls; it’s just a privilege to be able to get to know them and, hopefully, add something to what is already an exciting list.”
