MICHAEL Sodomaco’s record run as captain of Werribee will continue into a fifth season.
The 27-year-old will lead a six-man leadership group, with three-time Tigers’ best-and-fairest Matt Hanson appointed vice-captain.
Former Geelong defender Timm House is part of the group that also includes Nick Coughlan, Matt Munro and Dom Brew.
“(Being captain) is always a huge honour, and I’ve been fortunate enough to do it for a few years, but I think this is actually the first time I’ve been voted in by the playing group specifically,” Sodomaco said.
“It’s always nice to get a player-driven accolade because, at the end of the day, they’re your mates and the blokes you’re playing with.”
Sodomaco says Hanson is the ideal person to be his deputy.
“Matty is a terrific footballer but even more so a really terrific team person,” Sodomaco said.
“He’s going to slot into (the vice-captaincy) really seamlessly, and I’m hoping I can impart a bit of wisdom and a bit of knowledge and help him take the next step with his leadership.”
Werribee opens its 2019 campaign under new coach Mark Williams against North Melbourne at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday night.
