TOM STEWART has made a remarkable recovery from a knee injury, back from missing just one week on the sidelines for a Grade 2 MCL injury.
He’ll line up for the Cats in the must-win game against Gold Coast on Sunday, with Geelong also welcoming ruckman Jon Ceglar for his first match of the season, replacing Rhys Stanley.
Stewart was initially ruled out for up to a month for the injury he picked up in round 1 against Colligwood.
“He’s made really, really strong progress, he’s banging down our door”, Cats coach Chris Scott said on Thursday.
“It’s really exciting for us that an injury that looked like it could be multiple weeks, if not a month is not going to be that.”
Stanley, Gary Rohan and Cooper Whyte have all been named as Emergencies alongside defender Jake Kolodjashnij.
The substitute will be announced an hour before the match.
