Veteran Cat accepting of role

Zach Tuohy is the first to admit he would prefer to be in the Geelong team every week.

However, the 34-year-old understands the theory behind him being managed twice in the opening six rounds of the 2024 season.

And after an equal-career-best three goals in the 13-point win over Carlton, there might just be something in the Cats’ plans for the Irishman.

“This is something we flagged pretty early on in the piece,” Tuohy told K rock Football following the 13-point win over Carlton.

“Obviously, if it was left up to me, I would just play every week. But, the reality is that we have a huge list of players capable of playing at the level.

“If we’re in a position to rest some of our more experienced players, I think it’s good management to do so.

“Even if it doesn’t kind of feel great when you’re not playing, and you’re watching your team.

“I think the proof is in the pudding; I do feel better off a break.”
