VFLW returns to GMHBA Stadium

For the first time in nearly two years, Geelong’s VFLW team will grace the turf of GMHBA Stadium when it opens its season as part of a doubleheader with the Cats’ VFL side.

The Round 1 fixture for the VFLW and VFL was released this afternoon, with the women to host Carlton before the men take on 2023 grand finalist Werribee on Saturday, 23 March.

The women’s game gets underway at 11:15am, with the men at 2:05pm. Entry will be free is patrons are inside the ground by half-time of the women’s game.

Geelong’s VFLW team last played at GMHBA Stadium on April 9, 2022. Each of its home games since has been at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus.

They will again be coached by Elise Coventry, with Mark Corrigan taking charge of the VFL team.

The full VFLW and VFL fixtures are expected to be released early next week, with the VFLW to feature Sydney and the GWS Giants for the first time.

The Swans and Giants will play five between rounds 3-7.
