OUT-of-contract Geelong youngster Cam Taheny faces another stint on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

The 19-year-old was forced from the field during the Cats’ 12-point VFL win over Williamstown in what was just his second match back after more than a month on the sidelines.

“That’ll be scanned, but it didn’t look good,” coach Shane O’Bree told K rock Football. “It was while he was running fast, so they’re never good ones.

“He’s had back-to-back hammies, so it’s a challenge for Cam at the moment because he does have a lot of talent; we just can’t get the games into him at the moment.

“His body keeps on letting him down.”

Geelong held its nerve after the Seagulls came storming back from a 21-point three-quarter time deficit to make the margin one point.

However, Charlie Constable provided the steadying goal after a run of four consecutive Cats behinds.

“It was an awesome game to play in because Willy at Willy’s always a tough one, and they’ve got a lot of mature bodies,” he said.

“I think it was one of those games we needed to test ourselves out against quality opposition like Willy.

“The game was a game of momentum swings, and we held up a number of times; our backline were under siege, our mids around the contest.

“But, it was one of those games where we did take our opportunities and had a good lead at the end of most of the quarters.”

Ben Jarvis starred with three goals, 15 possessions and eight marks in a key forward role, while Irish rookie Stefan Okunbor’s improvement in the midfield continues with 22 possessions and six clearances.

Constable also reminded AFL selectors of his ball-winning ability in gathering 27 possessions to go with seven marks, seven tackles and four clearances.
