After finishing its inaugural season as runners-up in the Grand Final, Western United continues to secure top talent for its second season that begins in October.

The team named top signings recently with Catherine Zimmerman and Grace Maher, and backed up with announcements this week of returning players Alana Cerne, twins Adriana and Melissa Taranto, Natasha Dakic, Silver Bell Morris and Alyssa Dall’Oste.

This brings to twelve the number of players confirmed so far for the 2023-’24 season, with the team sure to announce more in coming weeks.

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato spoke of the importance of keeping hold of the Club’s talented young players, as the side develops beyond its inaugural season.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that our first season in the Liberty A-League is only the beginning of our story and that we continue to improve each season,” he said.

“As a result, it is vital that we are able to retain top young talents like Natasha, Alyssa and Silver Bell and we are pleased to have them continue their professional football journey with us.

“Alana (Cerne) has really been the perfect story for our birth in the A-League Women – a young, talented player from the West who became our first ever signing and then flourished in her first professional season.

“We knew that Alana had all the qualities to play at this level and she showed in a very short period that she is one of the most talented young Australian players in the A-League Women.”

“After the success of the Matildas, I feel as though this season is going to be a special one for everyone involved and I cannot wait to get started,” Adriana Tarantro said this week.

“We had such an incredible debut season last year, so I can’t wait to help the team be even more successful (this season),” Melissa added.

The A-league Women’s competition kicks off on 14 October, against Perth Glory in Perth.
