Robert Irwin is setting the record straight. The 22-year-old wildlife advocate and upcoming Logies host is officially tired of the rumour mill, especially when it targets his mother, Terri Irwin.

The Truth Behind the Tears

Recently, paparazzi captured photos of a visibly devastated Robert at an airport. The media quickly spun the narrative, suggesting a bitter family rift and painting Terri as the villain. The reality? Robert had just received the heartbreaking news that his beloved 13-year-old pet chicken, Piggy, had passed away.

“They always villainise Mum for some reason. I’m like, dude, my pet chicken just died. Cool it, all right?” he explained on the Something To Talk About podcast.

The youngest-ever Logies host also brushed off the constant speculation surrounding his dating life. He joked that simply walking on a sidewalk next to any woman under 30 immediately sparks engagement rumours. Instead of feeding the gossip, Robert prefers to redirect the public’s attention to causes that actually matter, proudly noting that their wildlife hospital just treated its 160,000th patient.

A Golden Threat

As for his Gold Logie nomination? He actually does not want your vote. Robert is campaigning fiercely for his friend and former co-host, Julia Morris, noting it is well past time she takes home the award. He even cheekily warned that he has venomous snakes and saltwater crocodiles ready to release on anyone who votes for someone else.

With the 20th anniversary of his father Steve Irwin’s passing approaching this September, Robert remains determined to honour his dad’s legacy by living life at 100 per cent, proving he is entirely focused on family, conservation, and clearly his chickens.
