A child has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle while walking to school in Teesdale on Thursday morning.
Police say the six-year-old boy was struck as he was walking on Bannockburn-Shelford Road just after 8am, with the vehicle then reportedly leaving the scene.
Emergency services responded and CPR was performed but sadly the child passed away.

Investigators understand the vehicle involved left the scene but was located at an address in Teesdale, and the 84-year-old female driver is now being questioned by police.
