Geelong train passengers could be in for delays on the eve of the long weekend.
The Rail union is planning a 13-hour stop work on Friday March 8, between 3am and 4pm, bringing the entire network to a stop.
It will be the seventh day of action on the local train line and other regional centres, following a series of four-hour stoppages.
The union claims the four per cent wage rise, offered by V/Line and endorsed by the Victorian government, is not good enough.
Branch secretary Vik Sharma said the rail authority needed to get serious at the bargaining table.
“The Allan Labor Government must be accountable to regional workers and work constructively to resolve this dispute,” he said.
“The state wages policy is being used to hold back regional workers and create a two class transport network.
“The government has endorsed a dud deal that would leave regional workers worse off than their metropolitan counterparts.”
V/Line said the planned action was disappinting, and would disrupt passengers that rely on the services.
Meantime, there are two separate two week disruptions in coming months on the Geelong line.
It is due to the works on the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds duplication works.
The duplicated rail will be installed in Grovedale, while bridge piers will be put in at South Geelong, to allow for dangerous and congested level crossings, that will be removed later this year.
