Two young boys are the latest arrested over what local police have dubbed ‘road pest’ behaviour.
The pair, aged 12 and 14, were taken into custody near the Moorabool Street bus exchange after 3pm on Wednesday.
Witnesses reported seeing the pair driving dangerously across Geelong’s northern suburbs for around two hours, on what police allege were stolen scooters.
Senior Sergeant Aaron Riches said the arrests were the successful result of a tactical response.
“They then rode into the CBD mall and commenced doing burnouts in plumes of smoke,” he said.
“Both were safely arrested mid offending.”
“We are keen to hear from anyone with information that leads us to further arrests, warrants and, if required, jail. We take this very seriously.”
The two have been charged with offences including reckless conduct endangering life and careless riding.
They’ve been bailed with CBD prohibition conditions.
