STEVE Clark will get the chance to become the longest-serving senior coach in BFL history after being re-appointed to the top job at Queenscliff for the 2021 season.
Clark, who has led the Coutas on 164 occasions in two stints (2000-06 and 2018-2019), will pass Matthew Sproule’s record of 178 games in Round 15 next year.
“Steve has been instrumental in rebuilding our senior football squad and developing a strong team culture that exhibits our club values,” president Rowan Martin said in a statement on Facebook.
“Steve’s reappointment reflects the confidence our club has in his ability to deliver success on the field but also acknowledges the positive influence that he has on the development of our junior footballers as well.”

As well as his 164 games with Queenscliff, Clark coached 185 times in the GFL (4th all-time) for a local total of 349 games.
Clark told krockfootball.com.au last month that the COVID crisis had delayed his re-signing.
“There’s just been too much going on with other stuff,” he said at the time.
“We just wanted to make sure everyone else was sorted. There’s been enough pressure on the footy club with the situation that we’ve got.
“It’s both our intentions to continue; it’s just been on the backburner.
“The plan is to sit down over the next 2-3 weeks when things have settled down and go through our planning for next year and coaching staff and those sorts of things.”
