Dees and Power to open Bellarine season

Portarlington and Newcomb will meet on Good Friday to open the 2024 Bellarine League season.

The Demons, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary next year, will look to snap a losing streak dating back that started in Round 17, 2018,

They will unveil a host of recruits, including former AFL trio Teia Miles, Connor Menadue and Jaryd Cachia.

It will be one of two games on the Christian Holy Day, with Modewarre and Geelong Amateur doing battle in a twilight clash at Community Bank Oval.

The third consecutive Good Friday meeting with Ammos will be the first time the Warriors have played at home at Easter since 2003.

On Easter Saturday, Torquay will unfurl its premiership flag against grand final opponents Drysdale, Barwon Heads will host Anglesea, and Ocean Grove will make the short trip east to the Couta Bowl for a meeting with Queenscliff.

Portarlington has another marquee matchup when it hosts Drysdale on Anzac Day.

The two clubs have been playing on or around Anzac Day since 2008.

Byes have been scheduled for May 11 and July 6, with the finals to start on the weekend of August 17-18.

Grand Final Day has been slated for Saturday, September 7.

AFL Barwon is expected to announce the Geelong League fixture between now and Christmas.
