Modewarre great Josh Finch will “let the dust settle” before deciding his playing future.

The 37-year-old four-time Les Ash medallist, who is an assistant coach in Geelong’s AFLW program, says he has spoken with Warriors football boss Michael Fitzgerald and coach Mark Hovey.

“I’ll catch up with the boys next weekend to celebrate the season and take a bit of time just to think,” Finch told krockfootball.live.

“I felt like I was still offering enough to the team and playing enough good footy, and I’m still enjoying it.

“I’m not sure; I’ll make a decision over the next couple of months what it looks like.

If Finch, who made the first of his 325 appearances for the Warriors in 2003, does hang up his boots, he left us with one last masterclass.

In the elimination final win over Geelong Amateur, he tallied 32 disposals, four clearances, four inside 50s, and four tackles.

However, a calf injury suffered late in the contest ruled him out of the following week’s semi-final loss to Drysdale.

“Disappointing for the boys in the way we finished our season,” Finch said.

“We felt pretty disappointed with our performance and our output. We got beaten around the contest and certainly around stoppage and clearance.

“The big-bodied Drysdale midfielders tested out there, so it was very difficult to watch and not be able to help out.

“I was having a good game against Ammos; (I made) a little change of direction, and I just felt it grab.

“I was just a couple of days short to get myself ready to play.”

Despite the earlier-than-hoped-for finals exit, Finch is confident a good platform to challenge for the club’s second Bellarine flag has been laid in Hovey’s first year in charge.

“We definitely exposed some good talent in our squad,” he said.

“To win a final (was) a great result; we hadn’t won one for a while.”
